PANO – Recently, Chinese media have published distorted information about Vietnam situation and published series of slanderous and provocative articles against Vietnam. Reality proved that the press could not side track readers all the time. In fact, many Chinese readers have raised their voices against China’s acts that hurt neighbouring countries, including Vietnam.

Chinese readers showed their indignation at the authorities’ vague and groundless explanation about the East Sea and “nine-dash line” claim and urged for clearer documents about the “nine-dash line”. They concluded the country which provides clear historical evidences is winner and the other will be a liar.

A Chinese reader, Mr. Chen, commented on an online outlet that about the East Sea issues, China was too greedy. “It is true that China would like to rise up, but it is not wise to trample on smaller countries to rise,” Chen wrote.

Chen’s comments showed his thorough understanding about the situation in both Vietnam and China. He also has a good knowledge of geography to understand Vietnam’s justice and China’s illegal acts of placing drilling rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. Chen stated that China’s oil rig is located right inside Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf and China is irrational to claim its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

The reader added that after affirming its position in the region and the world, China, as a big country and a major investor and partner of Southeast Asian countries and countries around the world, has over the past decades put weaker countries under its pressure to obtain its purpose of turning others’ sovereignty into its own.

It was clear that China’s systematic erroneous acts and schemes have intensified tensions in the East Sea. The fact proved that justice belongs to Vietnam. That is why Vietnam has received more and more supports from international friends while China has been isolated due to its illegal acts in violations of Vietnam’s sovereignty over its sea.

Mr. Chen concluded that the East Sea issues should be solved by reasonable and constructive measures basing on the principle of respect for mutual interests. Vietnam and China should negotiate to solve the issues, meeting the legitimate wishes of both Chinese and Vietnamese people.
