Attending the conference were Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, VUFO’s Secretary General; Mr. Pham Van Chuong, former Executive Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee Commission for External Relations; Mr. Dong Huy Cuong, Deputy Director of the VUFO’s Multilateral Affairs Department; representatives from the Vietnam People's organizations and non-governmental organizations.
Mr. Dong Huy Cuong reported the results of the First Regional Consultation Meeting for ACSC/APF 2014, held August 4-5th in Yangon, Myanmar.
“Advancing ASEAN Peoples' Solidarity towards Sustainable Peace, Development, Justice and Democratization” is the theme of the ACSC/APF 2014. As expected, ACSC/APF 2014 will have 6 plenary sessions with different themes as: Myanmar in Transition, Global and Regional Challenges to ASEAN Community Building, ASEAN Community building and its impact on local communities, ASEAN Charter Review and Implications on Community Building Processes, Report on Monitoring Previous ACSC/APF Statements and Mechanism and Reporting of Workshop Outcomes.
In addition, ACSC/APF 2014 will have 42 workshops in 4 main clusters: Peace, Justice and Human Rights, Development, and Democratization.
Mr .Nguyen Thi Hoang Van reported the situation and preparation for ACSC/APF 2014 in Myanmar. She specified the conference’s goal is to discuss and receive suggestions on proposed programme of ACSC/APF 2014, approach and cooperation among Peoples’ organizations for further participation in the Second Regional Consultation Meeting on October 20-21th in Yangon, Myanmar.
The conference took place lively with many suggestions and contributions of the participants and approved the nomination of seven representatives to participate in the Steering Committee, the Drafting Committee, the Program Committee and the Media and Information Committee.
