The 276-page book presents important events in the two countries' relations, from exchanges of high-level delegations and visits of all-level delegations to bilateral cooperation in many fields. It also has a rich photo collection, demonstrating the strong friendship and closeness between the two peoples both in war and in peace, despite their geographical distance.
According to Vu Trong Lam, the book was published on the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Committee for solidarity with Vietnam's establishment and the 50th anniversary of the first visit by Cuban leader Fidel Castro to Vietnam and the new liberalized region in Quang Tri. The book is a spiritual gift for Cuban friends and generations of Vietnamese and Cubans who have significantly contributed to creating, maintaining, and developing the special friendship of solidarity. It provides documents for readers of the two countries to better understand and appreciate the common history of the two peoples, which older generations have strived to cultivate.
Attending the launching ceremony, Ambassador of Cuba to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Guilén said the book recorded the most important events in Vietnam - Cuba relations. As a scientist, Dr. Ruvislei González Saez has spent tremendous time and effort researching Vietnam - Cuba relations to pass on the spirit of the special, pure, and unique friendship to the young generations of the two countries.
Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, assessed that the book is a valuable source of material to promote education about the tradition and history for the Vietnamese people, especially the younger generations. Moving forward, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association will introduce the book to members and officials of the Standing Agency and plan activities to introduce the book and the history of the two countries' special relations.
Hung hopes representatives of agencies and units who were present at the event to introduce the spirit and content of the book to members in their systems.
