Fifty years ago, Argentina was one of the first countries in Latin America to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam on October 25, 1973.
The two countries’ opening of their embassies in respective capital cities in the 1990s, along with frequent high-level visits has provided strong momentum to promote their political, economic, and cultural ties.
For the bilateral trade ties, the revenue has grown 700% within 10 years.
Vietnam was Argentina's sixth-largest trade partner and the fifth-largest export market globally, and also a key partner in Argentina's South-South cooperation in Southeast Asia. At the same time, Argentina was Vietnam's third-largest trade partner in Latin America.
Cultural and people-to-people exchanges have also been developing, with an increasing number of localities establishing twinning relationships through various forms, contributing to their socio-economic development.
Building on a solid foundation of 50-year relations that have endured the ups and downs of history, both countries are now seeing new opportunities to bring their relationship to a higher level./.
