(Xay dung) On May 23rd, the Swedish Embassy, Save the Children, the Internet and Social Research Program ( Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities) held a ceremony to launch the Handbook “Respect! My body!”
The launch attracted the attention and participation of numerous mass organizations working for children’s rights, communication agencies and representatives of schools, parents in Hanoi.

Our priority is investing in children and taking appropriate measures to protect children from violence and abuse. Children abuse in any country and under any circumstances are unacceptable and definitely condemned, Pereric Hogberg expressed.
In 2016, based on the statistics of Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the number of children sexual abuses recorded was more than 1,200 cases in Vietnam. Such abuses have influenced seriously children’s development, Director of Save the Children in Vietnam Dragana Strinic said.
The handbook “Respect! My body”
The handbook “Respect! My body”, which was the first released by Save the Children Organization of Swedish, has been an integrated campaign to prevent children sexual abuse. The book provides useful advices helping parents, teachers, policymakers, educators, Non-governmental Organizations and adults how to teach children of different ages to protect themselves from sexual abuse.
The book with perspicuous approach offers tips on how to talk openly and comfortably about the sexuality which is sensitive and private. This is a book that is a practical measure to prevent children sexual abuse and enhance children’s confidence.
The handbook has been published in Swedish, English, Spanish and Arabic, this is the first time it has been translated into Vietnamese.
