On Feb. 15, VUFO Vice President Phan Anh Son received senior leaders of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The leader of the delegations is WWF Global Director Prasanna De Silva.
On the WWF side, the delegates attending the meeting were WWF Global Director Mr. Prasanna De Silva, WWF Asia -Pacific Director Ms. Lilian Mercado Carreon, WWF Vietnam Chief Representative Mr. Van Ngoc Thinh, WWF Vietnam Finance Director Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa and WWF Vietnam HR Director and Ms. Nguyen Quynh Duong
The VUFO delegation attended the meeting included Vice President - General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Phan Anh Son, Head of the People's Aid Coordination Committee (PACCOM) Nguyen Ngoc Hung and Head of the Asia-Pacific Affairs Department Le Thi Thu Trang.
At the meeting, VUFO Vice President highly appreciated the contribution of WWF in Vietnam in the field of protection and conservation of natural resources and environment, especially in the field of raising people's awareness in the localities.
The two sides also proposed cooperation on issues on the Mekong River, protecting water sources from pollution, and co-organizing environmental conferences with the participation of leaders of countries in the Mekong River region.
The two sides agreed to organize leadership and management training courses for senior leaders in the provinces of the Mekong Delta.
Agreeing with WWF's proposal, Vice President Phan Anh Son said that senior leaders of the Mekong Delta provinces played an important role in decisions on orientations for economic, social and economic development, local environmental problems. Therefore, the training courses have profound and practical significance not only for the provinces but also for effective problem solving in the Mekong region in general.
On behalf of WWF, Mr. Prasanna De Silva thanked VUFO and PACCOM for always supporting the organization during its operation in Vietnam. The support that has contributed significantly to the achievements that WWF has achieved.
Vice President Phan Anh Son emphasized that VUFO and PACCOM would continue to support WWF in accessing qualified human resources, taking advantage of resources, successfully completing the tasks and organizational plans set out.
The two sides also discussed the orientation of WWF Vietnam's activities with the role of supporting global WWF to carry out inter-regional activities.

WWF is an international non-governmental organization established in 1961, presently present in more than 50 countries and is one of the largest organizations for the protection of nature in the world. WWF has a main representative office in Hanoi and liaison offices in the provinces of Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Thua Thien Hue, Lam Dong, Can Tho and HCMC.
In Vietnam, the organization officially operated since 1995, has made many active contributions in the field of conservation of natural resources, nature and socio-economic development of Vietnam in general.
