On May 19, the Committee for External Relations of Saint-Petersburg (Russia) held an online conference on the occasion of the 133rd birthday anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023). The event is within the framework of Vietnam Week in St. Petersburg (May 15-21, 2023).
Attending the conference were the Head of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg Evgeny Grigoriev, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Nguyen Phuong Nga, Head of the Vietnamese Association in Russia Do Xuan Hoang.
At the conference, delegates affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh is a great leader of the Vietnamese nation, dedicating his whole life to the cause of national liberation and freedom of the Fatherland. His life of revolutionary activities was closely associated with Russia. President Ho Chi Minh laid the first bricks for the friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation and always nurtured that relationship.
The event becomes more meaningful as Vietnam and the Russian Federation look forward to the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Petrograd, now St. Petersburg (June 30, 1923 - June 30, 2023).
The two sides are making efforts to inaugurate the statue of President Ho Chi Minh on this special occasion. This will be a symbolic work for the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

Speaking at the conference, VUFO President and Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga affirmed that, over 70 years, the relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation firmly overcame many challenges, ups and downs of history.
Over the years, the comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation between the two countries gained great achievements in many fields, including people-to-people exchanges and cooperation.
The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) will continue to work with the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association and Vietnamese people's organizations to strengthen cooperation with partners of the Russian Federation, cultivate, promote the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Russia.
It is an invaluable asset that has been cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh, generations of leaders and people of the two countries, contributing to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia, for the common interests of the two peoples, for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and in the world.
