Hellen Grace Akwii-Wangusa, Chair of the International Board of Directors for ActionAid, stated that Viet Nam has achieved remarkable outcomes in development, poverty eradication, and enhancing the quality of life for the people. The aim of her visit is to gather information on Viet Nam's overall situation and to understand the realities of localities where ActionAid projects are being implemented, such as Can Tho, Bac Lieu, and Ho Chi Minh City. This will enable ActionAid to comprehend Viet Nam's current conditions and needs, as well as to identify Vietnamese experience that could be applied in other nations.
Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, stated that Viet Nam could not have achived its development if it had not received the aid and support from foreign non-governmental organizations, including ActionAid. Despite the progress made, Viet Nam continues to deal with challenges such as the effects of climate change, a significant number of people with disabilities, and the ongoing management of war consequences. To maintain sustainable development and safeguard the progress made in eradicating poverty, Viet Nam needs continued support in resources, expertise, and experience from international non-governmental organizations.
Nguyen Ngoc Hung stated that VUFO, along with its subsidiary, the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (PACCOM), is prepared to collaborate and assist ActionAid in advancing its initiatives and projects within Viet Nam. The Vice President of VUFO hopes ActionAid and Hellen Grace Akwii-Wangusa to persist in their partnership with VUFO in future endeavors; to introduce new partners to VUFO, thus fostering enhanced communication, experience sharing, and cooperative efforts towards peace and development.
