Korea is the largest sending market with 844 thousand visitors (accounting for 27.7%). China ranked 2nd, reaching 538 thousand views, Taiwan (China) ranked 3rd (198 thousand views), followed by the US (156 thousand views).
In the top 10 largest markets for Vietnamese tourism, there are also Japan (107 thousand visits), Australia (97 thousand visits), Malaysia (92 thousand visits), India (79 thousand visits), Cambodia (79 thousand visits), and Thailand (76 thousand visits).
In the first 2 months of 2024, all regions grew strongly compared to the same period in 2023, notably the recovery of Asian markets (up 77.8%), Europe (up 76%), and Australia (up 36.5%).
In particular, the Chinese market has a very impressive recovery, 7.5 times higher than the same period in 2023. Along with that, major markets continued to grow strongly: Korea (up 50.7%), Japan (up 52.3%), and Taiwan - China (up 120%).
Nearby Southeast Asian markets grew well, including Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The Thai market alone decreased by 22.2%.
Markets in Europe are growing vibrantly, especially ones enjoying unilateral visa exemption policies such as England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, and Norway.
According to the Viet Nam National Tourism Administration, the excitement of tourism activities and the results of welcoming international visitors in the first 2 months of 2024 show a very positive recovery of Viet Nam's tourism industry.
An outstanding mark is the direction and guidance of the national tourism management agency on preparing well for activities to attract and welcome tourists during the Lunar New Year, especially the clear impact of the visa policy applied from August 15, 2023. These are good signs for Viet Nam's tourism industry right at the beginning of 2024 and are the basis for the industry to complete its goal of welcoming 18 million international visitors this year.
The General Statistics Office said that revenue from accommodation and food services in the first 2 months of 2024 is estimated to reach 118.3 trillion VND, accounting for 11.5% of the total and up 14% over the same period last year. Some localities with high growth rates are Ninh Binh, Kien Giang, Da Nang, Quang Ninh, An Giang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi.
Travel revenue in the first 2 months of 2024 is estimated to reach 9 trillion VND, accounting for 0.9% of the total and increasing 35.8% over the same period last year.
