A forum themed "ThinkTNE - Leveraging UK Vietnam Transnational Education Partnerships" was held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-UK diplomatic ties.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc said: "I am happy to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership. There has been more cooperation between the two countries in education and training. In the coming time, Việtnam and the UK will see more cooperation achievements in the sector, particularly higher education”.

Steve Smith, UK Global Education Ambassador shared in the forum: "I am honored to contribute to improving the capacity of universities in Vietnam, as well as expanding international cooperation. Today, we listened to and engaged with representatives from many of the UK's leading organizations and universities, all eager to learn and understand the needs, priorities, and desires of Vietnam on both domestic and international levels. We discussed solutions to improve capacity to bring mutual benefits."

With the theme ThinkTNE - Leveraging UK Vietnam transnational education partnerships, the forum is a place for long-time partners and new partners in the field of higher education to exchange and share experiences, together look back at success stories in higher education cooperation between the two countries, as a typical example and a valuable source of reference information for future cooperation. The forum focuses on promoting the development and expansion of cooperative training links in higher education.

At the forum, the delegates emphasized the goal of developing higher education in the 2021-2023 period. Accordingly, the proportion of revenue from science and technology activities of higher education institutions is set to reach an average of 10% of total revenue, ranked in the world in terms of quantity of international publications. At the same time, the rate of students having jobs suitable to their qualifications within 12 months after graduation averages more than 80%.
