- Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc:
This is the third time Prim Minister Nguyen Tan Dung attended the Nuclear Security Summit (the first time in 2010 in Washington D.C. and the second time in 2012 in Seoul, the Republic of Korea). Within two days, the Prime Minister had a tight working schedule with 40 bilateral and multi-lateral activities.
Judging the gained results, I can say it for short like this” “3 in 1” – 3 outstanding results in the first leg in Holland is that Vietnam is active and proactive to contribute to the common endeavor of the international community to maintain peace, security and safety of nuclear on the world scale; approves the strengthening of nuclear weapons disarmament, non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, prevention of the danger of nuclear weapons and materials to fall into the hands of terrorists, at the same time, making a contribution to enhancing the use of nuclear energy for peace, a vital interest of our country.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made full use of the results of the multi-lateral platform of this global stature to boost the bilateral relations with almost all big and important partners of Vietnam through 20 meetings and contacts with the practical and concrete content with the heads of state of China, Russia, the US, South Korea, Germany, France, Spain, Turkey, Singapore, the UN General Secretary and the EU President. The leaders of the countries and international organizations have attached important and wished to enhance the relations with Vietnam.
The host country the Netherlands, our strategic partner in responding to climate change and the rising sea, has attached importance and arranged the bilateral working program for our delegation similar to an official visit (the King and the Queen received the Prime Minister in the framework of the Conference; the Dutch Prime Minister held talks with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; the Prime Minister met the Parliament, ministries and sectors of Holland; we organized the Enterprises Forum; met the Vietnamese Embassy staff and the representatives of the Vietnamese community in Holland), with the substantial results in the economic, trade, investment, agricultural, financial, information and communications, science and technology, health and climate change and the host country and the delegation also prepared for the upcoming visit to Vietnam by the Dutch Prime Minister in this June.
- It can be seen here that the Prime Minister and the delegation had an urgent and effective activity in the Netherlands. So what about the visits to Cuba and Haiti? Would you say something about the results of these visits?
- Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc: As for these two traditional countries, the official visits of the Prime Minister have created a new breakthrough, raising the relations to the new height and taking the cooperation into the deeper, more effective and practical manner.
In Cuba, together with the consolidation of the faithful relations and solidarity, the visit this time has made a contribution to raising the relations between the two countries to a new height. The trust between the two countries has increased through the contents of frank and close exchanges in judging the international and regional issues. The signing of the medium-term bilateral economic agenda has opened up the prospect of cooperation in telecommunication, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and the settlement of the outstanding financial issues are the new breakthroughs.
The results are also reflected through the working sessions with the ministries, sectors and enterprises, the signing of cooperation in health, industry and agriculture, information and communications and defense.
As for Haiti which had lent strong and precious support to the struggle for national independence and construction of Vietnam and a new partner in the economic, trade and investment areas, we have cooperated with Haiti in telecommunication and export of rice, creating trust in each other. The Haitian leaders and people highly valued the cooperation as it contributed to ensuring food security of the country of 10 million people.
The visit to Haiti of the Prime Minister has opened up the prospect for a broader and deeper cooperation in various fields such as electricity production, in oil and gas, textile and garments, health, construction and tourism.
This visit to Haiti this time is of special significance. Haiti is considered as the first successful breakthrough that could help create conditions to expand the scope of economic, trade and investment cooperation in the whole Central America-Caribe.
The Prime Minister is very moved when the President, the Prime Minister, the President of the Upper House and the Lower House of the Haitian Parliament have time again expressed the gratitude to Vietnam when Vietnam is present in Haiti at the time the country was in great difficulties. The Haitian President and the Prime Minister regarded it as the model of the South-South cooperation.
In general, the one-week long visit of the Prime Minister has reflected Vietnam’s active and proactive contributions with high responsibility to maintaining peace, nuclear security and safety and at the same time to boosting the relations and cooperation for sustainable development and mutual benefits with the friends and partners in a deeper, more effective and practical manner./.
