At the meeting, the delegates reviewed key milestones of the Cuban Revolution, reaffirmed the strong solidarity between the two countries, and expressed their belief that, with its resilient spirit and international support, Cuba will continue to overcome challenges and move steadily on its path of national construction and development.
Delivering remarks at the event, Le Quoc Minh noted that 72 years have passed since the historic attack on the Moncada Barracks in the early morning of July 26, 1953, which marked the beginning of the Cuban Revolution led by Fidel Castro. History has shown that this event was a significant turning point in the history of Cuba, providing a tremendous impetus for the Cuban Revolution to achieve victory. He quoted leader Fidel Castro: the assault on the Moncada was the small engine that started the big engine of the Cuban Revolution. Without Moncada, there would have been no Granma landing in 1956, no guerrilla war in Sierra Maestra, and no triumph of the Cuban Revolution on January 1, 1959.

Le Quoc Minh emphasized that the Moncada event also served as a powerful source of inspiration for the national liberation movements across Latin America, encouraging peoples to rise up and fight for their right to self-determination and to choose their own path of development. Following the victory of the 1959 revolution, the Cuban people have remained steadfast in their revolutionary path, building a new society and receiving support from peace-loving peoples around the world, including Viet Nam.
He emphasized that over the past 65 years since the establishment of Viet Nam-Cuba diplomatic relations, Viet Nam has always attached great importance to preserving, consolidating, and promoting the special friendship between the two countries. Viet Nam has joined the international community in calling for an end to the embargo against Cuba and remains ready to support and stand by the Cuban people in their development journey. Press cooperation between the two countries has yielded remarkable results, with Nhan Dan Newspaper and Granma Newspaper maintaining regular exchanges of delegations and journalistic expertise, as well as jointly implementing cooperative projects, thereby further deepening the bilateral friendship.

Cuban Chargé d'affaires in Viet Nam Joy Puentes Saldise expressed deep gratitude for the affection that the Party, State, and people of Viet Nam have extended to Cuba. He stressed that in pursuit of the noble goal once affirmed by President Ho Chi Minh - "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom", the Cuban people have continued their fight for more than seven decades, unwavering in their revolutionary path. Reflecting on the Moncada event from today’s perspective, he likened it to a heroic symbol comparable to the feats of the Vietnamese people when facing the most formidable enemies, with absolute faith in eventual victory.

Joy Puentes Saldise also pointed out that Cuba continues to face an economic, trade, and financial embargo imposed by the United States. In recent times, these sanctions have been further tightened, seriously affecting the country's economy and the lives of its people. In this context, Viet Nam’s ongoing support is of immense value. The relationship between Cuba and Viet Nam, he noted, stands as a model of genuine solidarity and friendship, one that should be preserved and promoted in today’s world.
