More Than VND 1.46 Billion Supports School Meals for Children in Quang Tri

Zhi Shan Foundation, in coordination with the South Quang Tri Social Work Center and eight schools in five communes - Huong Hiep, Dakrong, Ba Long, La Lay and Ta Rut - reviewed the results of the Child Nutrition Improvement Project for the 2025-2026 school year and presented nearly VND 1.46 billion to support school meals during the first semester of the 2026-2027 school year on October 7.

The funding will help schools take a more proactive approach to providing nutritious meals that are safe and suitable for childcare conditions in mountainous areas. The organization will also provide sugar, soybeans and fuel costs, enabling teachers to continue preparing soy milk for the children every day.

The Child Nutrition Improvement Project for preschool children in mountainous areas was launched by Zhi Shan Foundation in Quang Tri in 2010. According to the program, more than 3,000 children at 15 preschools have so far received support for school meals and daily soy milk.

The regular support has helped improve childcare conditions at schools. The rate of children attending school has reached nearly 100%, while the rate of malnutrition has fallen from approximately 30% to 12%. For children in mountainous areas, school meals not only help improve nutrition but also enable them to attend school regularly and maintain more stable learning and daily routines.

During the implementation of the project, teachers and schools directly organize meals, monitor the children's nutritional status and coordinate with the supporting organization to sustain the program over the long term.

As part of the program, Zhi Shan Foundation presented appreciation gifts to former principals of preschools who had accompanied the project for many years. The organization also recognized the cooperation of the South Quang Tri Social Work Center, school management boards and teaching staff at beneficiary schools in organizing meals, caring for children and maintaining the project's activities.

At the event, the parties reviewed the results of the project during the 2025-2026 school year. According to the plan, they will continue discussions to develop an activity plan for 2027, focusing on maintaining nutritional support and improving childcare conditions in mountainous areas of Quang Tri.
