After over one month of working, the 7th session of the National Assembly, 13th legislature, has come to conclusion today.
Speaking at the closing meeting, Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung pointed out tat the 7th session of the National Assembly happened when the regional and worl situation has seen the complicated and unpredictably dangerous happenings. China has illegally placed its Haiyang Shiyou-981 oil rig deep inside Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf; independence, national sovereignty, peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and air traffic in the Bien Dong (East Sea) are being severely threatened. The National Assembly has affirmed that China’s action has encroached sovereignty, sovereignty right and jurisdiction of Vietnam; breached international law, first of all, the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Declaration on the Conduct of the Parties in the South China Sea (DOC); violaged the senior-level agreements between Vietnam and China on the guiding principle to settle the Bien Dong issue and done profound harm to the friendship, solidarity and neighborliness of the people of two countries of Vietnam and China.
“At this forum, in joining the heart beat of our compatriots and soldiers nationwide, all the deputies of the National Assembly have vehemently condemned the wrong actions of the Chinese side. The National Assembly has had profound discussion and released the statement declaring the just stand of Vietnam, resolutely protesting China’s wrong action and demanding China to withdraw its Haiyang Shiyou-981 oil rig from Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf and stop its action of encroaching Vietnam’s sovereignty” – Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung stressed.
The National Assembly has highly valued the whole-hearted speeches expressing the love of the country and the determination to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the deputies of the National Assembly and the people. The National Assembly calls on the compatriots and soldiers nationwide, the overseas Vietnamese abroad to promote the patriotic tradition, unite as one man with unanimity of will, action, support and carry out the policy of the Party and State, resolutely struggle to protect the territorial sovereignty on the basis of international law; maintain the environment of peace and stability for national development; maintain the traditional friendly relations between the people of the two countries of Vietnam and China.
“The National Assembly expresses the profound gratitude to the Parliaments and the members of the Parliaments, organizations, individuals and friends in the world for their continuous sympathy with and support to Vietnam, for their raising the voices to safeguard justice and reason of Vietnam and demanding China to stop immediately its actions of encroaching Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty” – Chairman of the National Assembly said.
Speaking about the domestic affairs, the National Assembly has also frankly pointed out the weaknesses still existing in the sectors and branches of the economic and social life, particularly in the context that independence, sovereignty and security of the country are being threatened, and difficulties for the tasks of the economic and social development in 2014 and the following years. At this session, the National Assembly has had profound and comprehensive discussion and worked out a lot of important and active solutions. The National Assembly has requested the Government, sectors and levels to take advantage of opportunities to overcome challenges, unite with the contingent of businessmen, compatriots and soldiers nationwide to promote highly the internal strength, take advantage in an effective way of the sources of investment, support and international solidarity, continue to maintain the stability of macro economy, restructure and shift successfully the economic model, actively carry out the policy on social security, reduce poverty effectively and strive to fulfill successfully the economic and social tasks in 2014 and in the 2011-2015 plan./.
