As many as 212 delegates from 14 agencies joined the trip, which lasted from April 22 to 27.
Prior to the journey, they paid tribute to the soldiers who laid down their lives defending Gac Ma (Johnson South Reef) at a monument in Cam Hai Dong commune, Cam Lam district, the south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa. They also visited Linh Nguyen Pagoda, along with Brigade 162 and Brigade 189 of the Vietnam People’s Navy.

As part of the trip, they visited Song Tu Tay (Southwest Cay), Da Thi (Petley) Reef, Sinh Ton Dong (Grierson Reef), Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and DK1/8 Platform, where they were informed about the lives of soldiers and residents, and the safeguarding of national sovereignty over sea and islands.

In his remarks, VUFO Vice President Nguyen Van Doanh lauded efforts by officers and soldiers in overcoming hardships to defend the country’s sea and islands, saying their silent contributions have created a strong defensive position and served as a pillar for fishermen to confidently pursue their livelihoods at sea, thus affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over Truong Sa archipelago.
The delegation also participated in a flag-raising ceremony, and offered incense at the memorial sites dedicated to heroic martyrs and President Ho Chi Minh in Truong Sa.

They also joined cultural and art exchange programs and a writing contest held as part of the trip.
Earlier, 47 overseas Vietnamese from 22 countries around the world and 200 domestic delegates concluded a program to visit people and soldiers in Truong Sa island district and DK1 Platform on April 23.
According to Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, the trip was the 10th of its kind to be held for OVs by the Foreign Ministry's State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (SCOV), and the High Command of the Navy./
