The Vietnamese and Czech delegates reviewed the deep bond between the two peoples, affirmed their determination to foster common values and develop the relationship more and more sustainably in the future at a friendship meeting on the occasion of the 106th anniversary of the Czech Republic's National Day (October 28, 1918 - October 28, 2024).
The October 25 meeting was attended by Hynek Kmoníček, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Viet Nam and his spouse; Nguyen Minh Hong, Permanent Vice President of the Viet Nam - Czech Friendship Association; representatives of the Europe Department under Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations; officials and staff of the Czech Embassy and the Slovakian Embassy in Viet Nam as well as members of the friendship association.

Speaking at the opening ceremony in Hanoi, Hong highlighted the Viet Nam-Czech close friendship despite the geographical distance, demonstrated through warm, sincere and respectful feelings for each other for many years.
The Vietnamese people always remember the extremely valuable support and assistance, both material and spiritual, of the Czech people in the past struggle to defend the Fatherland and in the future cause of building and defending the country, Hong said, adding that thousands of Vietnamese cadres, engineers and workers have been helped by Czech to study and work.
That affection has also been increasingly strengthened in the new era. Over the past time, the Governments and peoples of the two countries have continuously cultivated the traditional friendship in many fields including politics, economics, culture, education and especially cultural exchange activities and people-to-people diplomacy. The Vietnamese community in Czech is the first Vietnamese community abroad to be recognized as an ethnic minority in 2013; the Czech Government highly appreciates and creates favorable conditions for doing business, living, and integrating in the host country.
Hong hopes that in the coming time, the Czech Embassy in Viet Nam will continue to support the Viet Nam - Czech Friendship Association in organizing more cultural exchange activities, contributing to deepening the friendship between the two nations. Hong voices his hope the mutual relations will develop further, bringing benefits to both sides.

For his part, Ambassador Hynek Kmoníček thanked the Vietnamese friends who accompanied him on this memorable day of the Czech Republic. The fact that the important holiday of the Czech Republic is remembered and celebrated by the Vietnamese people, he stressed, is a clear demonstration of the long-standing friendship that has lasted for more than 70 years. This is not only an opportunity to recall precious memories but also an opportunity to work together to build and promote an increasingly strong and deep cooperative relationship.
The diplomat highly appreciated the efforts of the Viet Nam - Czech Friendship Association in connecting the feelings of the people of the two countries. Those who have lived and worked in the Czech Republic, when returning to Viet Nam, continue to preserve their love for Czech and its people, and spread it to the community.
In 2025, the two countries are looking forward to celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the ambassador expected many cultural, economic and social exchange activities will be organized to help the people of the two countries better understand each other's cultures.
He also hopes that the younger generations will continue to promote the tradition of friendship, share, support and build common values, contributing to creating a more comprehensive and stronger cooperative relationship between Viet Nam and the Czech Republic.
