Central Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association will soon launch commemorative activities, in collaboration with VietnamTimes magazine which will publish a special issue on 50 years of Vietnam-Japan relations.
This is information given at the third executive committee meeting of the seventh term of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association which took place on January 6 in Hanoi.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, To Huy Rua, chairman of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association emphasized that in 2023, the association has many important works, including activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan relations.
Rua, who is a former Politburo member, former Party Central Committee Secretary and former head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, suggested that delegates discuss and give suggestions to complete the 2022 report, on that basis, set out an effective and practical operation direction for 2023.
Presenting the report on the summary of work in 2022 and work orientation in 2023, Bui Khac Son, vice chairman of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association reviewed the association's outstanding activities in 2022.
Accordingly, the association has successfully organized the seventh congress for the term 2021-2026 in the form of direct online combination through 52 bridge points with the participation of nearly 120 delegates.
The Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association continues to promote and increase understanding of Japanese culture in Vietnam; maintaining the reception of delegations of Japanese parliamentarians, scholars and businesses to visit and work in Vietnam.
On the occasion of the visit to Japan, the association's leaders met and worked with some of the partner associations, thereby providing more information about areas that Japanese sides are interested in, thereby helping to them better understand the country.
In particular, the association plays the role of a bridge to promote socio-economic development. In which, introducing, connecting and supporting the Japan-Vietnam Peace and Friendship Promotion Council (JVPF) with Ha Giang province to cooperate in implementing a construction project here; coordinating with Hai Duong province and the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam to organize an investment promotion conference and conduct a Vietnam - Japan golf friendship tournament.
Assessing the work results in 2022 of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association, Son pointed out that the association has completed the year's mission, closely followed and strictly implemented the operation direction has been set out.
Regarding the work direction in 2023, the association will continue to strengthen members to meet the requirements of development and operation in the new situation. In particular, activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations will be the highlight of 2023. In which, the association will organize the celebration in Hanoi in September 2023; cooperated with Thoi Dai magazine to publish a special issue on 50-year-ties.

Besides, the association will coordinate to organize the eighth Vietnam - Japan Exchange Festival in Ho Chi Minh City, Cherry Blossom Festival in Ha Long city and some other provinces and cities.
Coordinating with local associations and Vietnamese Alumni Club in Japan to host cultural exchange activities and friendship football tournaments; participating in investment promotion conferences of Japanese enterprises in Vietnam.
The Central Committee of the association will also support Hai Phong's Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association to hold a workshop on training and preparing high-quality human resources.
Welcoming the positive comments of the delegates, Chairman To Huy Rua proposed that the association's Standing Committee fully absorb it to complete the report. Moreover, people-to-people diplomatic activities in local associations and branches are very active, and the Central Association needs to be close to grasping and gathering good initiatives to enrich and livelier the general activities. Along with that, proactively prepare and deploy activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the relationship, including a special issue.
