On January 19, the Vietnam-Brazil Friendship and Cooperation Association held a conference to review the work in 2021.
Practical activities connecting solidarity and friendship
Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Nang Khieu, deputy head of the Americas Department, said that in 2021, the traditional friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Brazil continued to be maintained and developed.
In May 2021, the National Assembly approved the Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil to deliver 10,000 medical masks made in Vietnam to the Chamber of Deputies as a symbol of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
On the 131st birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the website of the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) published an article about President Ho Chi Minh's life and cause for national liberation.
2021 is the first year that the Association develops a quarterly newsletter, with the aim of providing information about the people-to-people diplomacy of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Association. There is also information related to Brazilian politics, economy, society, and diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Brazil.
The Association's Facebook fanpage was active last year, updating information about the activities of the Embassy of Vietnam in Brazil.
Regarding economic cooperation, the Association had an online meeting with Pedro de Oliveira, general secretary of the Brazil-Vietnam Friendship Association (ABRAVIET) to discuss connecting businesses and other activities between the two peoples.
Through the channel of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Prime Minister presented the Certificate of Merit to Dr. Nguyen Van Lang, president of the Association, for his achievements, contributing to the solidarity, and relationship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Brazil.
Imprints of the Portuguese-Vietnamese dictionary
Regarding the direction of activities in 2022, Nguyen Nang Khieu said, the Portuguese-Vietnamese Dictionary project, is made possible by the Association's Executive Board for Vietnam's people-to-people diplomacy.
The dictionary has been accepted, evaluated for its high practicality and modern compilation methods. It is expected to be a lasting imprint of the Association in enhancing mutual understanding between the peoples of Vietnam and Brazil.
Khieu said that, after the launch of the Portuguese-Vietnamese Dictionary, the Association will organize the 3rd Congress for the term 2022-2027.
The 3rd Congress will orient the Association's activities in the next 5 years, and the Association's personnel work. The Association's traditional diplomacy and internal activities will still be maintained in accordance with the new situation.
At the conference, members of the Executive Committee updated the situation in Brazil and the relationship between the two countries. They also discussed and contributed ideas on the direction of the Association's work in 2022.
Concluding the conference, Nguyen Van Lang, president of the Vietnam-Brazil Friendship and Cooperation Association acknowledged the contributions of the members of the Executive Committee. He said that in 2022, the Association will focus on these activities:
Firstly, successfully organize the 3rd Congress for the term 2022-2027, with the direction of the Association and its sub-committees; Mobilize businesses to join the Association. In the Executive Committee, the Association added large enterprises, institutes, ministries, and departments to cooperate with Brazil.
Second, the Association will complete and publish the Portuguese-Vietnamese Dictionary with 15,000 copies, and then continue to convert it into an electronic dictionary.
Thirdly, the Association will renew the Executive Committee to make its activities more effective, by strengthening the staff of the Association's Secretariat, and activities of the clubs.
Lastly, the Association will continue to carry out activities that have not been done in 2021. In which, the Association organizes activities on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Brazil Independence Day.
