The program has a profound meaning, creating the strength of solidarity and friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia.
The Cambodian delegation includes Chay Navuth - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Vietnam and his spouse; together with relevant officials and 53 Cambodian students in Vietnam and their guardians from the program.
The Vietnamese delegation includes Le Van Tuy - Standing Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association; Dr. Nguyen Huy Quang - Vice Chairman of VUFO Vinh Phuc; Khuat Van Khanh - Deputy Director of Department of Foreign Affairs of Vinh Phuc province; Ms. Tran Thi Minh Loi - Deputy Director of Vinh Phuc Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairwoman of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association in Vinh Phuc province.
At the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Huy Quang - Vice Chairman of VUFO Vinh Phuc addressed the importance of the program:"55 years ago, the two countries Vietnam - Cambodia officially established diplomatic relations. A day earlier, in a telegram sent to Cambodian President Norodom Sihanouk on June 23, 1967, President Ho Chi Minh stated: 'The establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries is a brilliant expression of love, close friendship and fighting solidarity. It is a historic event in the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia, a positive factor in peacekeeping in Indochina and Southeast Asia.'”
He added that Vinh Phuc province always expands its friendship with all countries in the world with people-to-people exchange. Vinh Phuc province does not share a common border with Cambodia yet the province has thousands of volunteer veterans and former military and civilian experts who helped the Cambodian revolution. Currently, there are more than 100 Cambodian international students studying in the area, Vinh Phuc province always pays special attention to consolidating and developing friendly relations with Cambodia.
He also reported many activities of the Association such as contributing to the flood-affected Cambodian people and the poor in Svayreng and Bien Ho with a total amount of VND 30 million (US $1.305); releassing the book "Vinh Phuc - Cambodia far and near".
In response, Chay Navuth - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Vietnam expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders of Vinh Phuc province for organizing a meaningful meeting, to the host families for accepting Cambodian students.
"This action shows the spirit of solidarity, mutual love and affection between the two countries Cambodia - Vietnam and is also an opportunity for students to consider this as their own families," said Chay Navuth.
On behalf of Cambodian students in Vietnam, Ly Phan Lu - 3rd year student at Hanoi University of Science and Technology said: Thank you to the Government of Vietnam for supporting me in my studies; thank you god parents for always being with us, they always encourage us to study well so that later we can have a lot of knowledge learned in Vietnam to return to build the country, contributing to the development of relationships. Vietnam - Cambodia is getting better and better.
On the same day, the delegates from two countries and Cambodian university students in Vietnam visited the Temple of Literature in Vinh Phuc province and Tay Thien scenic area.
