A friendship concert took place on May 28 at the Saigon Opera House in Ho Chi Minh City to mark the 27th anniversary of Vietnam-US diplomatic ties.
Hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) and the city's Vietnam - US Friendship Association, the concert aimed to contribute to strengthening the friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between the Vietnamese people in general, the people of HCM City in particular, and the people of the United States.
At the music night were attended by Do Viet Ha, HUFO president; Tran Vuong Thach, vice president of the city's Vietnam - US Friendship Association; Truong Thi Hien, president of the city's Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association and representative of the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the beginning of the concert, Tran Vuong Thach sent his gratitude and thanks to the sponsors for always supporting and accompanying the program.
He hopes that tonight's concert will be maintained regularly in order to further strengthen the friendship between Vietnam and the US, which is demonstrated through the collaboration between artists of the two countries.
Especially to celebrate the fourth congress of HUFO, term 2022-2027, the friendship concert was performed in collaboration with Vietnamese-American violinist Vu Viet Chuong; French pianist Vincent Adragna, Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji and the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet, Symphony Orchestra and Opera.
Internationally acclaimed Vietnamese violinist Chuong Vu received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas, where he held a doctoral fellowship and a teaching fellowship. He is currently Artistic Director of Vietnam Connection Music Festival and the Dallas-based International Chamber Players.
Chuong has appeared as a soloist with Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra, University of North Texas’s Baroque Orchestra and Concert Orchestra, Clear Lake Symphony Orchestra, Symphony North of Houston, Odysseus Chamber Orchestra, Northeast Orchestra, Richardson Symphony Orchestra, San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra, and Ho Chi Minh City Symphony Orchestra (HBSO).
This is also one of the annual cultural activities of the municipal Vietnam - US Friendship Association to show gratitude to the units accompanying the association in people-to-people diplomatic activities and an opportunity for the association's executive board exchange with members, member associations of the HUFO and officers and employees of the US Consulate General in HCM City.
