In the letter, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh wrote:

"We are deeply moved and saddened at the news that Raymonde Dien, a member of the French Communist Party, a great friend of the Vietnamese people, passed away on 19 August 2022 in her hometown.

With Raymonde Dien’s demise, all of us have suffered a huge loss, the world peace movement has lost a brave fighter, the Vietnamese people have lost a great, loyal and faithful friend.

The Party, State and people of Viet Nam shall never forget the image of the 21-year-old Raymonde Dien leading demonstrators, lying across the railroad and trying to block a train carrying tanks and weapons to Indochina in 1950. Her action and feelings symbolized revolutionary heroism, opposition to the unjust war of the French colonialists in Viet Nam, and the friendship between the people of France and Viet Nam.

I would like to convey the deepest condolences of the Vietnamese people to peace-loving people throughout the world, the French peace movement, and Mrs. Raymonde Dien’s family, friends and relatives. The land and people of Viet Nam shall forever be grateful to her."
