Italian Ambassador speaks at the event
The visit of Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte with his delegation in early June to attend the third high – level dialogue on Italia – ASEAN economic relations is expected to strengthen not only bilateral strategic partnership between Vietnam and Italy, but also the relations between Italy and other countries in ASEAN.
Talking about the Vietnam – Italy ties, Italian ambassador Antonio Alessandro highlighted similar traits shared by the two countries “Vietnam and Italy both have narrow long shape and are coastal countries. Two countries have long-standing culture and both had overcome difficult period in their history when being ruled by foreign invaders, and had eventually achieved victory, gaining back peace and independence. In spite of geographic distance, people of our countries share the same view of cultural values, including the appreciation of family, friendship and aesthetics”.
These similarities lay solid foundation for our present sustainable and in-depth relation between Vietnam and Italy, Ambassador Alessandro said. Based on this fact, the Ambassador affirmed the Embassy of Italy in Vietnam will continue cooperating with the VIFA to organize practical activities, in order to deepen bilateral relations, especially, in preparing for the welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in June.
Also, in the Republic Day celebration, Italian Ambassador in Vietnam and Chairman of VIFA presented scholarships to excellent students of the Italian language Department, Hanoi University and those from the National University of Art Education and La Dante center Vietnam (a society to promote Italian language and culture).
