AP is a private foundation created in 1982 by US businessman Charles F. Chuck Feeney. APs' grantmaking supports health and social projects in many countries as Australia, Bermuda, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, the United States and Vietnam. Among the non-governmental organizations operating in Vietnam, the AP has the largest budget of about 300 million USD over the years.
Mr. Christopher G. Oechsli was a senior staff member at AP and related companies for 17 years. Beginning in 1990, he served as a director, counsel or chief executive of operating companies within the General Atlantic Group, an international investment subsidiary of the Atlantic Foundation. Serving as Director of the Atlantic’s Population Health Programme from 2000 to 2005, he developed and directed Atlantic’s work to strengthen the health systems in Vietnam and South Africa; developed higher education system and rule-of-law initiatives in Vietnam, South Africa, Australia and the United States. In the positions at AP, he has made efforts to support, implement large-scale programs and projects in Vietnam, and actively cooperate with partners and authorities of Vietnam.
Mr. Don Tuan Phong, on behalf of VUFO's leaders, highly appreciated AP’s good performance and contributions to the development of Vietnam, and expressed warmest thanks for to AP for what they have done in Vietnam. Mr. Don Tuan Phong hoped that AP, in the future, will have more contributions to the development of Vietnam.
