Present at the meeting were Mr. Vu Xuan Hong, VUFO’s President; Mr. Don Tuan Phong, VUFO’s Vice President; and representatives from VUFO’s departments. In his opening speech, Mr. To Anh Dung made an introduction of the members of the delegation. He said that all the members are well aware of the role of the State and Party diplomacy, especially the importance of the people-to-people diplomacy. He also expressed the wish to receive from VUFO’s leaders the specific orientations towards people-to-people diplomacy as a supplement to the “luggage” of each member while working abroad.
On behalf of VUFO’s leaders, Mr. Vu Xuan Hong highly appreciated the working visit of the delegation. He made an introduction to the delegation of the people-to-people diplomacy, informed the delegation of VUFO’s achievements in 2012, its orientations and main tasks in 2013.
Mr. Vu Xuan Hong said that it is necessary for the Heads of Diplomatic Misions to have the updated information of the host country; spend time visiting and meeting with foreign partners to strengthen the good, inherent relations; care for those who have positively contributed to the development of Vietnam. He asked the newly-appointed Ambassadors and Consuls General to send to VUFO list and information of those who have had much contributions to the development of Vietnam, so that VUFO could make proposals to the Party and State to grant them deserving awards. The Ambassadors and Consuls General should care for the mobilization of NGOs, local organizations and enterprises in funding and supporting Vietnam; introduce new organizations, partners and friends in accordance with VUFO’s activities. In addition, Mr. Vu Xuan Hong hoped that the Ambassadors and Consuls General regularly send news and articles to VUFO’s press agencies for enrichment of its external information and research works.
Mr. To Anh Dung, on behalf of the delegation, expressed sincere thanks to Mr. Vu Xuan Hong for his reviews of VUFO’s people-to-people diplomacy and significant achievements. He said that the delegates will absorb the people-to-people diplomacy orientations of VUFO’s leaders, and will have positive contributions to the enhancement of the people-to-people diplomacy in general and of VUFO in particular./.
