Recently, at the La Lay International Border Gate, which bridges Quang Tri and Laos's southern province of Salavan, the delegation of the Thua Thien - Hue Union of Friendship Organizations organized a gift giving program to support the people of Sekong and Salavan provinces to prevent Covid-19.
The Friendship Union and the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Thua Thien - Hue organized the donation of medical supplies, including 150,000 medical masks, 500 sets of protective clothes and 300 bottles of hand sanitizer for the people of Sekong and Salavan. These are two provinces bordering with Thua Thien Hue province.
This is the result of practical contributions of many individuals and collectives to the donation program "Standing with the Lao people to prevent and combat Covid-19" along with the companionship of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha chapter in Thua Thien province. - Hue and Kim Sora Co., Ltd.
At the ceremony, Tran Thi Mai, president of the Thua Thien - Hue Union of Friendship Organizations, informed about the Covid-19 prevention and control work in the province and solutions to strengthen in the coming time in the face of complicated developments of the pandemic.
She also highly appreciated the disease prevention and control work of the Laos in general, and the two provinces of Salavan and Sekong in particular, which have achieved positive results. Mai hoped that the Covid-19 outbreak would soon be controlled, life of the community returns to normal, the economy soon recovers.

Akhom Lamvichit, director of the Department of Health, deputy head of the Department of Covid-19 Prevention and Control in Salavan province, representing delegations of two Health Departments, informed about the Covid-19 situation in Lao.
The two provinces of Salavan and Sekong have stepped up the implementation of Covid-19 disease prevention and control measures to limit the spread of the Covid-19 disease, and organized vaccination points for high-risk groups and the total population. Up to now, Salavan province has 13 cases and Sekong province has one case. All cases have been cured.
Leaders of the two Laotian provinces thanked the people of Thua Thien - Hue province for their precious affection, attention and timely sharing with the Lao people in the two provinces of Sekong and Salavan. At the same time, he pledged to use this meaningful gift for the Covid-19 disease prevention and control.
Recently, the Covid-19 has spread with complicated and unpredictable developments in many countries and territories. The Friendship Union hopes that this sharing will partly support the Lao people, especially the two provinces of Sekong and Salavan in effective pandemic prevention and control, contributing to deepening the special traditional friendship and international solidarity between the people of the two countries.
