On June 23, in Hanoi, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, met with Cuban Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen. In order to strengthen and further expand the naturally positive traditional relationship between the two nations, the two ambassadors decided to work closely together in arranging solidarity and friendship events.
Cuban Ambassador recently addressed Cuba's socioeconomic position, expressing his pleasure to meet with Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga.
Despite the fact that the Cuban people are still enduring numerous hardships as a result of the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak and US government moves to tighten sanctions, the Cuban Ambassador reiterated that the Cuban people truly understand, sympathize, and accompany the Government, while also affirming the Cuban Party, Government, and people's will to overcome obstacles in order to defend their revolutionary achievements.

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga expressed gratitude to the Cuban ambassador for taking the time to speak with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, noting that this demonstrated the significance of the Union of Organizations and the role of people-to-people diplomacy. The Vietnam Friendship Organization works to strengthen ties between the two countries' peoples as well as their friendship and solidarity.
Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations praised the Cuban people for their achievements in national defense and construction, particularly the victory of "self-reliance and self-improvement" against the Covid-19 pandemic. Not only did Cuba develop a vaccine against Covid-19, reducing the impact on people's lives and health, but it also assists countries, including Vietnam, in overcoming the pandemic.
Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga acknowledged the challenges the Cuban people are facing but reaffirmed her firm belief that, with the support of the Cuban people and the guidance of the Communist Party of Cuba, Cuba has the strength to overcome all obstacles and foil any nefarious plans of the hostile forces. While reiterating Vietnam's steadfast position, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga stressed that the Vietnamese people will always remember Cuba's generosity and invaluable help shown to Vietnam in the past through its most trying moments. Nam has consistently stood by and supported the people of Cuba, urging the US to halt its hostile stance and the unjust economic and financial embargo against the country.
The two ambassadors made a commitment to frequently exchanging information, cooperating closely, and sharing information in order to prepare for significant commemorative events in the bilateral relationship, such as the 69th anniversary of the Barracks Attack Day. 50 years have passed since President Fidel Castro visited Quang Tri in Moncada (July 26, 1953 – July 26, 2022).
Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Parliamentarians Group, Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, and Cuban Embassy met earlier this month to advance and reaffirm the special relationship between the two countries. It is advised that the two sides maintain close coordination and intensify their interactions in all spheres of politics, economy, culture, trade, tourism, and health in order to further develop their partnership in the near future.
