Speaking at the event, Vice President in-charge, Secretary General of VUFO, Don Tuan Phong reviewed the honorable tradition of VUFO since the foundation by and under the guidance of President Ho Chi Minh.
Throughout its 68 year journey, VUFO has greatly prospered and contributed significantly to Vietnam’s foreign affairs and generally, the reform, protection and development of the country.
VUFO has unceasingly expanded its organization scale to 116 member institutions (64 at central level and 52 at local level) and hundreds of local branches.

In the new context, VUFO defined its key priorities in operation as: Firstly, continue to expand its scale and strengthen its effectiveness in international friendship and partnership, in bilateral and multilateral mechanisms.
Secondly, consolidate and promote NGO activities. Vietnam has reached middle-income status, making ODA priorities of donors and foreign NGOs change. Henceforth, VUFO aims at effectively conducting organizational reform, resources mobilization, capacity enhancement and mechanism building in accordance with the new context; consolidating its role and capacity as the focal agency in mobilizing foreign non-governmental aid and foreign affairs.
Thirdly, enhance the quality of diplomacy research, consultancy and information through effective personnel and quality management.
Fourthly, develop the organization and personnel of VUFO by building strategies and partnership development plans; conducting renovations; improving the effectiveness of diplomatic affairs; actively and intensively connecting with and integrating into global network; building capacity and scale of staff at all levels.
On the occasion, VUFO Vice President also expressed deep gratitude to the Party, the State, the Vietnamese Fatherland Front and diplomacy seniors, emphasizing VUFO’s determination as a whole to “actively, flexibly, creatively, effectively” accomplish all missions and thus, contribute to the development and integration of Vietnam, keeping upholding its honorable 68-year tradition and the success of Vietnam’s people-to-people diplomacy./.
