This is an event to mark the 19th anniversary of Hanoi being recognised as “The City for Peace” by UNESCO, attracted members of Vietnam’s friendship organisations, foreign friends studying and working in Vietnam as well as members of the public.
In his opening speech, Nguyen Lan Huong, head of the Hanoi Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation and HAUFO Chairwoman said that the event aims to introduce the culture of the countries and strengthen the friendship and solidarity between Vietnamese residents and international friends.
She emphaised that the Hanoians cherish peace and friendship and they, together with people around the world, will strive to maintain these lofty goals on earth.
At the event, participants enjoyed art performances by Vietnamese artists, embassies’ staff and foreign students. It strengthened the mutual understanding between the people of Hanoi and international friends, thereby promoting the image of Hanoi as a dynamic, open, hospitable and peaceful capital.
International friends and people from the capital city gathered together and sang about peace, friendship and love. Many Vietnamese, Lao, Japanese and Russian songs and dances were performed by non-professional artists and students from Vietnam and several countries.
The Festival took place with 29 performances in praise the beautifulness of Vietnam, the love of country, friendship, performed by Friendship Associations and the member organisations of HAUFO as well as embassies’ staff./.
