The event was jointly organised by the Vietnam-Uzbekistan Friendship Association (VUFA) and Uzbekistan’s Honourary Consul to Vietnam to celebrate Vietnam’s National Day (Sept. 2), Uzbekistan’s Independence Day (Sept. 1) and the start of the association’s National Congress for the 2018-2023 period.
The contest aims to offer exchange opportunities for youths of Vietnam so that they can learn about history, culture and traditions of Uzbekistan.
The contest received almost 400 submissions from primary schools all over Hanoi.
According to the organising board, the paintings depicted beautiful landscapes, people, tradition and history of the two countries and their special friendship. The awarded works focused on the topics of history, nature, people, tradition and friendship. The competition is a good opportunity to help the two countries’ children have more knowledge about Uzbekistan.
In particular, there were some children choose to draw the Asian Football Confederation U23 Championship (AFC) final in Changzhou, China between the U23 Vietnam and U23 Uzbekistan. The painting reproduces an equalizer by Vietnamese midfielder Quang Hai in the finale with Uzbekistan during the 2018 AFC U23 Championship in China on January 27, 2018.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Uzbekistan’s Honourary Consul to Vietnam Le Van Nghia the paintings reflect the Vietnam – Russia relations through a different lens. According to him, they introduce the people and land of the two nations and describe the life of Uzbek people through children’s innocent eyes./.
