Vietnam – Germany Friendship Association donates 80,000 masks to help German fight against the COVID-19.
These masks were handed over to the Germany Embassy in Vietnam.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, the President of Vietnam – Germany Friendship Association Nguyen Chi Dung said that Europe countries in general and Germany in particular, were facing a severe shortage of masks and medical equipment.
In order to share difficulties with Germany, the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association has mobilized to donate 80,000 masks to help the country in its fight against the COVID-19.
These mask are gifts from member of the Vietnam – Germany Friendship Association and Vietnamese people who love Germany.
For his part, German Ambassador to Vietnam Guido Hildner hailed Vietnam’s achievement in the COVID-19 fight. That is the result of drastic measures by Vietnamese Government and the solidarity, consensus of Vietnamese people, he said.
Ambassador Guido Hildner affirmed Vietnam is one of the most successful countries in the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic. Although the pandemic is still not under full control, social and economic life must move on. According to him, international solidarity is being needed more than ever before to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The Ambassador emphasized ‘a friend in need is a friend indeed’. 80,000 masks are just a small number compared to the needs of Germans, but more importantly, they convey the deep affection of the Vietnamese people, as well as the solidarity of the peoples of the two countries in this fight, he said.
Germany will continue to cooperate with Vietnam in the future to overcome the economic consequences in post the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also at the ceremony, the two sides agreed to promote further cooperation, especially technology cooperation, towards the 45th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between the two countries.
