The Vietnam - Poland Friendship Association recently organized a mid-term meeting of the 2020-2025 term in Hanoi.
The meeting determined that the focus of the association's work in the second half of the term is to continue strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two peoples in all fields, especially in the fields of culture and education.

Assessing the association's activities in the first half of the 2020-2025 term, Tu Duc Hoa, Vice Chairman cum General Secretary of the Vietnam - Poland Friendship Association said that the first half of the term took place in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic is complicated, causing many difficulties that have directly affected the association's activities in recent times. However, the association still carries out many activities to maintain friendship and people-to-people diplomacy.
Some outstanding activities include organizing the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Poland in 2020; mobilizing members to donate to support Poland with medical supplies during Covid-19; connecting Kraków University of Technology with highschools in Vietnam; nominating a representative to participate in the Jury of the 4th Wikipedia contest with the topic "Famous and not-so-famous Polish people".

Determining the direction of activities in the second half of his term, Hoa said that the association will continue to actively respond to important anniversaries of the two countries. At the same time, it connects the people of the two countries in all fields through scientific conferences, culinary festivals, and tourism promotion.
Especially, in the field of education, the association will be a bridge connecting Vietnamese and Polish schools. Specifically, the association will coordinate with the Center for International Cooperation and Study Abroad Consulting - VietPol, Dai Nam University, and the Polish Embassy in Vietnam to hold a study abroad seminar to introduce opportunities to study abroad in Poland for Vietnamese students.
The association will also promote the connection of high schools in Poland to twinned with Vietnam-Poland high schools; connecting a Polish university with Vinh University.

According to former Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland Nguyen Van Xuong, the Friendship Association is a red thread connecting the people of the two countries because its activities over the past time have been effective and comprehensive, actively contribute to people-to-people diplomacy, and deepen the traditionally friendly relationship between the two peoples.
Xuong said that, in addition to continuing to maintain existing activities, the association should take advantage of its strengths and exploit the potential of the two countries' cooperation in many other fields such as investment, trade, and tourism.

Closing the meeting, Nguyen The Thao, Chairman of the Vietnam - Poland Friendship Association once again affirmed that the association will continue to organize activities and perform well its role in connecting the people of the two countries. At the same time, the association also needs to strongly innovate both the form and content of activities to attract new members, especially young people - the future generation - to build a sustainable development association.
At the conference, the association's Executive Committee agreed to carry out procedures to request the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations to award the “For peace and friendship among nations” insignias to 6 Polish citizens who have made outstanding contributions to the cause of cultivating the friendship between the two countries. |
