The rural traffic bridge named Kenh 5 in Thoi Binh Hamlet was built with a length of 22 meters, a width of 3 meters, and a height of 3.5 meters with a total cost of 200 million VND. The Kien Giang Union of Friendship Organizations mobilized VND 150 million from Buddhist Thich Nu Dieu Hoa, Abbess of Ky Quang Pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City, and the Phuoc Thien Charity Association. The state budget provided support of VND 50 million and the contribution of locals to the construction.
The bridge is a practical gift to help local people, especially students, to travel and commute more easily and safely. It also facilitates trade and exchange of goods, and supports the local community in achieving the goal of rural transportation infrastructure in building and improving new-style rural, said Mr. Dang Hoang Dien, Vice Chairman of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Kien Giang province.
On this occasion, Phuoc Thien Charity Association donated 10 scholarships and 50 gifts to elementary school students in the commune from disadvantaged families having good academic records.
