On the afternoon of April 2, the Vietnamese People's Army rescue team, in coordination with Myanmar and Turkish rescue teams, successfully rescued Htet Maung Maung (26 years old), a chef who had been trapped for over five days in the Aye Chan Thar Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar's capital. Thanks to timely IV fluid support from the rescue team, his health has gradually stabilized.

After being rescued, Htet Maung Maung was taken by ambulance to the hospital amid cheers from the rescue team and onlookers. His family was deeply moved and expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in the rescue mission.
U Myint Lin, father of Htet Maung Maung, shared: “When the earthquake occurred, our family was at home while Htet Maung Maung was working at the hotel. For nearly a week, we had no news about our son until this morning when we were informed he was still alive.”

Myanmar’s Minister for Security Soe Win Relief, and Resettlement, expressed: “Together with the Vietnamese, Myanmar, and Turkish rescue teams, we managed to rescue two individuals trapped in the Aye Chan Thar Hotel. We are grateful for the tremendous help we received from your side. I truly appreciate Viet Nam's efforts in rescuing the two victims and am impressed by your capabilities. We would like to extend our deepest and most sincere thanks to the people, leaders, and rescue teams of Vietnam, who have selflessly endured hardship and danger to support us during this difficult time.”
On April 3, while cooperating with the Vietnamese rescue force at another search site — Ottara Thiri Private Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw — Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed K. Al Mahri of the United Arab Emirates Civil Defense Force commented that the Vietnamese rescue team was “very good, enthusiastic, and professional.”
Dr. Zar Chi Soe of Ottara Thiri Hospital shared: “The atmosphere at the hospital is filled with grief. We can truly feel the dedication and professionalism of the Vietnamese rescue team. Thank you so much.”

Major General Myat Thu, Director of the Department of Fire Services and Rescue (under Myanmar's Ministry of Home Affairs), highly praised the spirit, responsibility, and efforts of the Vietnamese team, who faced danger without hesitation, working tirelessly from early morning until late at night in very challenging and complex areas to support the people of Myanmar.
Major General Myat Thu said: “I find the spirit of the Vietnamese rescue team truly admirable. They work from dawn until dusk. Even when we suggested they rest for at least a day, they insisted they came to help and continued their work. We hold their sense of responsibility in the highest regard.”
| The Vietnamese People's Army team, consisting of 80 officers, professional soldiers, trained rescue dogs, and modern equipment, began their rescue mission shortly after arriving in Nay Pyi Taw early on March 31. They quickly approached the disaster sites and actively engaged in search and rescue operations. Within four days, the team successfully recovered 15 bodies from collapsed buildings and hospitals, and rescued one person who had been trapped under rubble. |
