On the occasion of the 132nd birth anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890-2022), on May 17, the Canada - Vietnam Friendship Association (CVFS) coordinated with the Vietnam - Canada Friendship Association to organize an online conference with the theme "Ho Chi Minh Complete Collection and Selected Works on Gender Equality."
According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Ottawa, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thi Thuc - Director of the Center for Information and Scientific Research, Truth National Political Publishing House, introduced at the conference the "Ho Chi Minh toan tap” (Ho Chi Minh Complete Collection) with 15-volume book series.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thi Thuc, the research and collection of President Ho Chi Minh's writings during his revolutionary career have great value and meaning, which contribute to affirming that Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought are the ideological basis and guideline for Communist Party of Vietnam’s actions.
Speaking at the conference, Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Pham Cao Phong gave Canadian friends a comprehensive and in-depth look at Uncle Ho, who is the crystallization of Vietnam's cultural tradition over thousands of years and the cultural quintessence of the world.
The Ambassador affirmed that with President Ho Chi Minh’s role in the historical process of Vietnam and his contributions to the development of humanity, he is a great man of our time.
President Ho Chi Minh is an outstanding symbol of the will and determination of the whole nation, dedicating his life to the cause of the national liberation of the Vietnamese people.
He embodies the aspirations of Vietnam to assert our identity.
He is also a pioneer in promoting mutual understanding and friendship among nations.
Ambassador Pham Cao Phong emphasized that equality between men and women is the consistent thought of President Ho Chi Minh, showing respect for women and aspiration for women's liberation in the Vietnamese revolutionary process.
In the view of President Ho Chi Minh, women have the same basic rights as men. Moreover, their rights and benefits must be respected. The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam must institutionalize the Party's policies on equality between men and women in the Constitution and laws.
President Ho Chi Minh also pointed out that women themselves must have the will to be independent and must fight to protect their rights. The Vietnam Women's Union and The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union have the responsibility to persistently propagate and educate the community.
At the conference, Dr. Nguyen Dai Trang introduced to Canadian friends selected works on peace, democracy, and gender equality by President Ho Chi Minh.
There have been many domestic and foreign books written about President Ho Chi Minh, but according to Dr. Nguyen Dai Trang, "we should read documents written by Uncle Ho himself, from which to get an objective view of the great leader as well as history in that context."
Mr. Philip Fernandez, the representative of CVFS, said with great feeling in his voice: "Not only the Vietnamese people, Communists, and revolutionaries, but also all thoughtful and enlightened people in the world honor President Ho Chi Minh, for his historical contributions to the Vietnamese people and all mankind."
According to Mr. Philip, Vietnam has always been consistent with the teachings, leadership, and legacy of President Ho Chi Minh. Under the experienced and seasoned leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam has successfully responded to external challenges in the world, the COVID-19 pandemic, the impacts of digital technologies, and the scientific and technological revolution…
Vietnam's position in the world is respected for the fight for peace, freedom, and democracy in the country and internationally. This is the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh.
Mr. Philip affirmed that the life and legacy of President Ho Chi Minh have become more and more meaningful and glorious over time.
The conference participants were especially excited when they heard the poems “A Comrades Paper Blanket”, “Learning to play chess"... in the poetry book "Prison Diary" read by Dr. George Elliott Clarke as well as visiting an online museum about President Ho Chi Minh.
The online museum about President Ho Chi Minh - a passionate "creation" of Dr. Nguyen Dai Trang - is considered a creative product, which contributes to promoting President Ho Chi Minh's legacy to international friends.
