Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia Doan Khanh Tam presents the Friendship Medal of the President to Professor, Dr. Sonomish Dashtsevel, President of the Mongolia - Vietnam Friendship Association
The Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia on March 17 held a ceremony to present the Friendship Medal of the State President to Professor, Dr. Sonomish Dashtsevel, President of the Mongolia - Vietnam Friendship Association for his great contributions in honouring the late President Ho Chi Minh abroad.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the leaders of the Peace and Friendship Organization of Mongolia, the Mongolia - Vietnam Friendship Association, the Experimental School No. 14 named after the Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh, the Mongolia Students Association in Vietnam and the Vietnamese community in the host country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia Doan Khanh Tam emphasized that the life and career of late President Ho Chi Minh is associated with the glorious history of the Vietnam's revolution, the Vietnamese people and the peace-loving people all over the world.
The UNESCO Resolution adopted in 1987 marked the centennial birthday of President Ho Chi Minh as a hero of national liberation and a great man of culture.
President Ho Chi Minh is also the person who laid the foundation for the good traditional friendship relationship between the two peoples of Vietnam - Mongolia, Tam added.
The ambassador sincerely thanked Prof. Dr. S. Dastsevel for his practical contributions, dedication and affection to the country and people of Vietnam, especially President Ho Chi Minh, as well as contributing to strengthening solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the people of Vietnam and Mongolia.
Ambassador Tam also expressed his belief that Prof. Dr. S. Dashtsevel will continue to pay special attention, as well as spread fire and enthusiasm to future generations of Mongolia as well as Vietnam in the future; promote the friendship and traditional cooperation between Vietnam and Mongolia to develop to new heights.
The President of the Mongolia - Vietnam Friendship Association expressed his honor to receive the noble award from the State of Vietnam, considering it a great source of encouragement as well as strength to continue to do his best to contribute to the development of relations and cooperation between the two peoples and activities to honour President Ho Chi Minh, a great and close friend of the Mongolian people.
He also emphasised that President Ho Chi Minh and Mongolian President Iu. Sedenbal laid the foundation for the friendly relationship between the two countries.
Prof. Dr. Dashtsevel, 79, is author and translator of many works about the country and people of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh into Mongolian, including “Prison Diary”, "The Life and Career of President Ho Chi Minh", "Ho Chi Minh: Career and Era", ‘Truyen Kieu’ (Tale of Kieu) by Nguyen Du, the movie "When the tenth month comes" and many other publications.
The Mongolian doctor, a former student of the Literature Department, Hanoi University, has a boundless love for the late Vietnamese president and his poems.
He has been married to a Vietnamese women and his past trips to Vietnam aim not only to visit his wife’s hometown but also to find out more about the culture and people of Vietnam.
When reading the Prison Diary, he felt closer to Uncle Ho’s personality. The poems demonstrate his determination, patriotism and love for his people.
Dr. Dashtsevel had spent considerable time studying the collection’s translated versions in Russian, English and French languages and made great efforts to preserve the spirit and philosophy of the poems, besides the rhyme and meaning of the words.
