Viet Nam – US Association, established in 1988, is a member of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, operating in the field of people-o-people relations. Its activities aim at developing friendly and cooperative relations between the people of Hanoi and the people of Washington D.C, between the Vietnamese and Americans in large.
During the term 2012 - 2017, the Viet Nam - US Friendship Association of Hanoi has actively developed the association. Up to now, the Viet Nam - US Friendship Association of Hanoi has had of 2,000 regular members. The Association has actively propagated and seriously follow to the regulations, guidelines and policies of the Party and the State on the people-to-people activities, cooperated with the United States in the spirit of the Resolution of the Hanoi’s Party Committee "To diversify, multilateralize, incorporate all kinds of foreign affairs, implement the motto is that: economic foreign affairs is the key; foreign affairs of State plays main role in promoting and broadening people-to-people relations. "
The Viet Nam - US Association regularly organizes practical activities such as seminars, exchange meetings in the fields of education, training, science and technology, contributing to strengthening the solidarity and friendship between the two countries of Viet Nam – US, between Hanoi and the cities of USA.
The Congress elected 27 members to the Executive Committee of the association in the term 2017 – 2022 with Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Director of the Hanoi Institute of Socio - Economic Development Research as Chairman for term 2017 - 2022.
