The Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Association of Tay Ninh province was established under the Decision No. 61/ QĐ-UBND of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee signed on January 13, 2010. The establishment of provincial Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Association is essential for enhancing friendship, peace, cooperation, integration and development in the current context of nationwide innovation.
The association has mobilised businesses, individuals, donors, health facilities in the province and Ho Chi Minh City come to Cambodia to help flood victims, providing free medical examination and treatment, presenting gifts to poor people from 2011 to 2018 worth over VND 15 billion (USD 645,000) and donating 1,065 wheelchairs to disabled people in some neighboring Cambodian provinces.
The association also coordinates with other functional agencies to carry out a number of activities such as seminars and workshops to exchange information on the application of scientific and technical advances in agricultural production; prevention of cross-border epidemics; cooperation on searching and collecting martyrs’ remains.
Currently, the Tay Ninh’s Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association has nearly 500 members.
Under the motto of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation”, during its this term from 2018 to 2023, the friendship association will enhance its important role in promoting people-to-people diplomatic activities between Tay Ninh and Cambodian localities. This will help maintain peace as well as strengthen bilateral solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the Cambodian people through their practical cooperative solutions.
The delegates at the congress agreed to improve its activities towards organising more cultural, artistic and educational exchanges, in order to strengthen the bilateral friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Tay Ninh and Cambodian localities.
Tran Van Chien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee was elected as President of the association for the 2018-2023 tenure, heading a 27-member-executive board./.
