Truong Thi Yen, former Deputy Director of provincial Finance Department, was elected as Chairwoman of the association for the 2018-2023 tenure, heading a 19-member-executive board.
The establishment of provincial Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Association is essential for enhancing friendship, peace, cooperation, integration and development in the current context of nationwide innovation.
As a member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam-Campuchia Friendship Association and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, the association is meant to foster friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries, the tradition of solidarity and multi-faceted cooperation between the people of Vietnam in general, the people of Ben Tre in particular and the people of Campuchia, for the benefit of of two peoples and two countries.
Under the motto of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation”, during its first term from 2018 to 2023, the newly-founded friendship association will enhance its important role in promoting people-to-people diplomatic activities between the province and Cambodian localities. This will help maintain peace as well as strengthen bilateral solidarity, friendship and cooperation with the Cambodian people through their practical cooperative solutions.
The delegates in the congress worked out a plan of action for the next 5 years, focusing on being a bridge for cooperation and cultural exchanges between Ben Tre and localities in Campuchia; strengthening organisational structure; increasing the number of the association’s members and establishing more chapters at grass-root level./.
