The Convention saw the presence of Mr. Nghiem Vu Khai, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Chairman of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association; Mr. Vu Van Son, Executive Deputy Secretary of Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Duong Thai, Executive Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Que, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; representatives of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, departments and agencies; representatives of 20 Japanese companies operating in Hai Duong province and VJFA’s 85 members.
A variety of major tasks were proposed for the 2013 – 2018 tenure, including promoting and diversifying information dissemination on the relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general and Hai Duong province with Japan in particular; organizing exchange activities in the fields of culture, arts and tourism and concentrate on reinforcing; consolidating and expanding its organization. It is expected that VJFA’s members would increase to 150 people in the next tenure.
The Convention elected a new 11 - member Executive Board. Mr. Pham Xuan Thang, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of Hai Duong Propaganda and Education, was re-elected VJFA’s Chairman for the next tenure.
The Hai Duong Provincial People’s Committee presented Certificates of Merit to 11 outstanding groups and 1 individual in recognition of their contributions to the enhancement of the cooperation and friendship relationship between Hai Duong and Japan.
Before the Convention, VJFA celebrated the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam - Japan (21/9/1973 - 21/9/2013).
