Trương Thị Mai is new President of Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association
(Vietpeace) On May 23th, the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association held a ceremony to announce the new President of the Association session 4, for the term of 2013 – 2018, Trương Thị Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) and Head of the CPVCC’s Mass Mobilisation Commission.
In the ceremony, partcipants included National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân, Politburo member, the former President of the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association; Đôn Tuấn Phong, member of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO); Representatives of Central Ministries and Agencies; members of Standing Committee and Executive Committee of the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association and on the Cuba side, there were Herminio Lopes Diaz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam and his wife....
Đôn Tuấn Phong affirmed that generations of the Vietnamese have always appreciated the role of the country and people of Cuba for Cuba’s support toVietnam in the wartime, and up to now the two countries have given sympathy and affection to each other.
Phong highly valued the role of the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association which contributed to boosting mutual understanding, cooperation and bilateral partnership over the past decades. It is an honor that the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association (a member of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations) has had the key members of the Communist Party being the President of the Association.
On behalf of the leaders of the VUFO, Phong congratulated Trương Thị Mai and believed that the Association would definitely contribute to promote bilateral relations under her leadership.
Trương Thị Mai expressed her gratitude to the VUFO and the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association as well as the former President of the Assocition Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân. It is a great honor and a new assigned task to her, she said.
Chairman Ngân believed the new President Mai, an ourstanding individual, would complete her duty and responsibility in a new position. She affirmed to follow-up and support to the Association’s upcoming activities.
Ambassador Herminio Lopez Diaz congratulated the new President Mai. He hopes the Embassy and the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association would continue to work closely to maintain and promote good friendship between two countries.
