Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang elected president of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association (VJFA)
(Vietpeace) The 6th national conference for the 2015 -2020 tenure of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association (VJFA) was held at Hanoi International Convention Center on March 28, 2015.
Present at the event were former General Secretary of the Vietnam Communist Party’s Central Committee Le Kha Phieu, Chairman of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group To Huy Rua, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong, Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang, VJFA chairman Nghiem Vu Khai as well as representatives of the Party’s commissions, government agencies, members of VJFA chapters nationwide.
The conference has elected a 74-member Executive Board and a 24-member Standing Board headed by Transport Minister Dinh La Thang who became VJFA chairman.
VJFA has approved the report on its 5th tenure activities and also discussed and finalised the action plan for the next 5 years.
Speaking at the event, VJFA Chaiman Dinh La Thang assured his efforts to make VJFA an important factor in strengthening and expanding the traditional bonds of solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Japan, thus creating opportunities for multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.
VJFA’s action plan in the 2015 – 2020 tenure focuses on further renovation of its methods and content of activities, development of its organization network matching bilateral extensive strategic partnership and the foreign policy of the party and the state of Vietnam.
Thang asserted that the documents passed by the congress were the result of high intellectual concentration reflecting not only sincere feelings but also responsibility before the two peoples, confirming that the bilateral cooperation pursued by Vietnam and Japan was aimed at mutual benefit, peace in the region and the world.
“Vietnam has been the most important partner of Japan in Asia in the recent years. The Japanese government always considers special support for Vietnam and Japan is the largest ODA-funded country for Vietnam in the past 20 years”, said Japannese Ambassador to Vietnam H.Fukada. Japan and Vietnam share mutual views on the situation of the East China Sea and the South China Sea nowadays and are willing to solve problems based on international law for peace and stability and security in the region.
Ambassador Fukada confirmed the friendship and the comprehensive cooperation Vietnam - Japan are beneficial for both countries. He hoped that VJFA in the next tenure will have more diverse and rich activities, contributing to enhancing the mutual understanding and the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
