"The education about our special traditional friendship can be enhanced through activities in celebration of important historical events in Vietnam-Cuba relations, cultural and artistic promotion and exchanges, connecting universities, contests among young people to learn about the two countries, academic and research exchange”, said Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) at a meeting with a high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Cuba on May 2 in Hanoi.

According to Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, VUFO, the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association and the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam will coordinate to celebrate the 50th anniversary of President Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated region of South Vietnam in Quang Tri.
VUFO will further promote mutual understanding between the two peoples, especially in the field of culture and art through artists exchange, and translation of literary works of the two countries. Education of young generations of the two countries about the traditional relationship, the inherent good history and the sense of developing relations will also be enhanced through activities such as connecting universities of the two countries, organizing competitions among young people, exchanging and talk among ambassadors, speakers with young people.
Academic and research exchanges will be strengthened between scholars and researchers of the two countries, especially in the study of Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro's thought.

In the coming time, VUFO and the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association plan to cooperate with Cuban and Vietnamese partners to renew people-to-people exchange activities, and explore appropriate directions for greater effectiveness. One priority of which is to propagate and educate the young generations of the two countries about the history of the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba to continue the generations of their fathers, maintain and develop the tradition of good solidarity and friendship that has contributed to actively promoting bilateral cooperation in all fields between the two countries.
At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga said that the visit took place right after the high-level visit of the Vietnamese National Assembly Delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to Cuba, Argentina and Eastern Uruguay.
This affirms the spirit of solidarity, special traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and mutual trust between the two brotherly countries that transcend both geographical and time distances, marking a new milestone, and creating a new impetus for further development of relations between the two countries in the new context.
According to Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, the special traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and mutual trust between Vietnam and Cuba were established by the predecessor revolutionary leaders Jose Marti, Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro and others of Cuba and Vietnam who have worked hard to cultivate, consolidate, develop and deepen in all fields, for the benefit of the two parties and two countries.
Vietnam always respects and treasures Cuba's solidarity and sincere support, both spiritually and materially, for Vietnam in the struggle for national liberation as well as in the construction, protection and development of the country.

Speaking at the meeting, Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Cuba Roberto Morales Ojeda expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam on the occasion that Vietnam is celebrating the 48th anniversary of the liberation of the South and country reunification. In 2023, the Cuban people's 70th anniversary of the Moncada victory and the 50th anniversary of Cuban President Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated region of South Vietnam will also take place in Quang Tri.
According to Roberto, although the Cuban economy is facing many difficulties due to the encirclement and embargo, posing the biggest challenge to Cuba's development and social welfare, the Cuban people have traditionally been resilient and will work to overcome the challenges ahead.
Thanking VUFO and the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association for always standing by the Cuban people, Roberto emphasized the importance of cooperation between Cuba and Vietnam and friends around the world. Based on the good relationship between the two countries, which has been built, consolidated and cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, in the coming time, Cuba and Vietnam will strengthen cooperation in many fields, in which, economic promotion is one priority to develop on a par with the inherent good political relations between the two Parties and States.

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation of the Communist Party of Cuba led by Mr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Cuba, came to lay flowers at the monument of Jose Marti, Cuban national hero, at Tao Dan flower garden, Hanoi.
The ceremony was attended by Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen and officials and employees of the Embassy; Ngo Le Van, Deputy Head of the Central Committee for External Relations; Phan Anh Son, Vice President, General Secretary of VUFO; representatives of leaders of Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association; former Vietnamese students in Cuba.
