On August 17 in Hanoi, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Phan Anh Son received a high-level delegation of the Mexican Labor Party led by General Secretary and Federal Senator Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez, who is visiting and working in Viet Nam. The two sides discussed strengthening exchanges and promoting friendship between the peoples of Viet Nam and Mexico, with particular attention to gradually establishing focal points and friendship organizations between the two countries.

Welcoming General Secretary Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez and the high-level delegation of the Mexican Labor Party to visit and work with the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, President Phan Anh Son gave an overview of the role of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and its member organizations in promoting friendship between the Vietnamese people and peoples around the world.

Regarding Mexico, Phan Anh Son said the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations is promoting the establishment of the Viet Nam-Mexico Friendship Association, which would provide an additional channel for exchanges and people-to-people connections between the two countries. He expressed his hope that, once the association is established, the two sides would continue to maintain contact, enhance exchanges, and coordinate in organizing appropriate activities. He also proposed that the Mexican side give attention and support to promoting the formation of a group or friendship organization with Viet Nam to serve as a partner for people-to-people exchanges and cooperation.

General Secretary Alberto Anaya Gutiérrez spoke highly of the role of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations in strengthening friendship between the Vietnamese people and peoples of other countries. He said the meeting had provided the delegation with a better understanding of Viet Nam and its people.
