The funds, handed over by VCFA Vice Chairman, compositor Do Hong Quan, were raised last month at a VCFA’s conference in Ho Chi Minh City to express gratitude to the Vietnamese coast guard forces, which have been defending the country’s sovereignty.
Colonel Tran Trung Kien, head of the Vietnam Coast Guard’s Political Section, thanked VCFA leaders for their support and assistance.
Separately, VCFA and the Vietnam Musician Association have recently issued statements to oppose China’s Haiyang 981 oil rig placement in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.
