(Vietpeace) Twenty two Friendship Force International ambassadors of the Christchurch, New Zealand paid a visit to Vietnam on June 4-16, 2014.
Vice President of the Vietnam – USA Society Bui The Giang hosted a reception with the delegation in Hanoi on June 6th afternoon, and made a brief introduction on the socio-economic of Vietnam nowadays, on the roles of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations as well as of the Vietnam – USA Society in promoting mutual understanding, friendship and collaboration between the Vietnamese people and peoples all over the world.
In sharing information on China’s illegal installation of drilling rig HD-981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, Giang hoped the NZ friendship ambassadors would understand more the challenges that face Vietnamese people in their battle for the territorial integrity.
On behalf of the delegation, Ms. Leone Isabelle expressed her gratitude to the Vietnam – USA Society and other organizations for their whole-hearted welcome during her Vietnam visit. She said the visit’s purpose was to get more knowledge on the Southeast Asian country, its people, history and culture, enhancing mutual understanding and people-to-people friendship.
Regarding China’s illegal installation of drilling rig HD-981 in the exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of Vietnam, Ms. Leone Isabelle expressed sympathy with the Vietnamese people and said would convey this information to other members of the Christchurch Friendship Force Club.
The Friendship Force International is a program of exchange visits (home-stay) that ranges its club network in more than 60 countries in the world. FFI has partnerships with the Vietnam USA Society since 1995. The exchange of visits is conducted annually. Delegates come mainly from the United States, while some others arrive from Japan, New Zealand, Australia and Europe.
In the framework of the visit, the NZ friendship ambassadors will get experience in home-stay programs in Hanoi and Hue, and discover nice spots throughout the country.
