(Vietpeace) A 18-member delegation from New York-based Trinity School has completed a study visit to Vietnam between June 16 - 29, 2014.
Vice President of the Vietnam – USA Society Bui The Giang hosted a reception with the delegation in Hanoi on June 17th, and made a brief introduction on the history of Vietnam’s struggle for independence and its achievements during the renovation period, on the people-to-people diplomacy activities of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations as well as of the Vietnam – USA Society. A Q&A was held among the attendants about the country and people of Vietnam, and also on the situation in the East Sea where China has illegally installed an oil drilling rig in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.
On behalf of the delegation, teacher Michael Alan Berkowitz expressed his gratitude to the Vietnam – USA Society for the whole-hearted welcome. He said the visit was meant to get more knowledge on the people, history, culture and renovation of Vietnam as well as the Vietnam – USA relations.
As part of the visit, students experienced a home-stay program in Hanoi and a two-day volunteer work in the northern district of Mai Chau. They also had chance to discover nice spots throughout the country.
