VMFA and MVFA realeased Joint Statement on East Sea
(Vietpeace) The delegation of the Vietnam - Mongolia Friendship Association (VMFA) led by its Chairman Ho Xuan Hung paid a working visit to Mongolia from June 1st - 6th at the invitation of the Chairman of the Mongolia - Vietnam Friendship Association (MVFA).
During the visit, the delegation had a meeting with MVFA’s members, visited School 14 named after President Ho Chi Minh in Ulan Bator City, coordinated with the Embassy of Vietnam in Mongolia and MVFA to hold a business seminar.
The two sides appreciated the significance of holding the seminar on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (November 17, 1954 - November 17, 2014), considering it an opportunity to strengthen mutual understanding and trust and boost cooperative relations for mutual benefits.
The two sides also released a Joint Statement expressing their serious concerns on the current situation in East Sea after China illegally placed its oil rig Ocean - 981 in Vietnam’s continental shelf and exclusive economic zone.
The two sides agreed that “the unilateral action by China in the East Sea is seriously violating the sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction of Vietnam stipulated by the 1982 UN Convention on Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the 2002 Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC). China’s blatant acts of escalation in the East Sea are causing grave concerns to China’s neighbors”.
Mr Ho Xuan Tung expressed his thanks to MVFA’s Chairman for the hospitality extended to the delegation and his deep sympathy for the Vietnamese people’s legitimate aspirations for their national sovereignty.
