The Communist Party of India (CPI) was established on December 26, 1925, in Tashkent, the Turkestan Soviet Autonomous Socialist Republic, after the Second Congress of the International Communist.
The Indian Communist Party (Marxist) was split from the Communist Party of Indian in 1964 due to differences in views on India's future development path after independence and the application of the basic logic of Marxist-Leninist theory on the specific situation of India.
Currently, the two Communist Parties work closely together to carry out democratic reforms and protect the interests of working-class people.
At the reception of the Vietnamese delegation, Secretary General of the Indian Communist Party Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy and Secretary General of the Indian Communist Party (Marxist) Sitaram Yechury informed the Vietnamese delegation on the development situation of the Indian Communist Party in particular and of the Indian situation in general.
Secretary General of the two Parties was pleased to see that the traditional friendship between India and Viet Nam growing well and being upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Despite of the change in the ruling party in India, the good relationship is maintained and nurtured.
Speaking at the meeting, Bui Khac Son, head of the delegation and Vice president of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, announced the achievements of Viet Nam since renovation and expressed his desire for the Communist Party of India and the Marxist would continue to support for the cause of building and developing the country under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, as well as the development of bilateral relations in economy, society and people-to-people diplomacy. He also expressed his hope that in the coming years, many delegations and Vietnamese businesses will come to India to promote cultural and commercial exchanges.
On the same day, the Vietnamese delegation attended the 72nd Independence Day anniversary of Viet Nam in India organized by the Embassy of Viet Nam in India. At the event the artists of the Military Music and Drama Theater performed special shows, contributing to the presenting the Viet Nam's art and culture.
