The event was attended by VUFO Vice President in-charge cum Secretary General Don Tuan Phong; M. Zamruni Bin Khalid, Ambassador of Malaysia in Viet Nam and diplomats from ASEAN countries.
Addressing remarks, Phong appreciated the cultural exchange program which is a practical activity celebrating the 60th anniversary of Malaysia's National Day and the 72nd Viet Nam’s National Day and contributing to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the both countries.
According to Vice President Phong, bilateral relations are constantly being strengthened and developed. Malaysia is currently the seventh largest trading partner and investor in Viet Nam with two-way trade reaching USD 8.4 billion in 2016 and total investment up to May 2017 reaching USD 12 billion. Cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, tourism and labor between the two countries has also been expanded.
Malaysian Ambassador Mohd Zamruni Bin Khalid affirmed that the two countries have good bilateral relationship, both within ASEAN framework and in the international arena. The Viet Nam - Malaysia strategic partnership demonstrates the success of the two countries in promoting bilateral cooperation including cultural cooperation and exchanges activities, performing arts, supporting and participating in cultural events in each country.
After the opening ceremony, the cultural exchange program performed 13 songs and traditional dance introducing the characteristics of the both countries. The Malaysia showed art performances from the Bang Pahang region, presenting a unique part of Malaysian culture to the Vietnamese audience.
