Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Viet Nam - Hungary Friendship Association Le Minh Triet said that the two countries shared many traits in common including history, culture... and spoke highly of the kindness and sincere help of Hungarian people during the Vietnamese people’s fight for national liberation and reunification, adding that the Vietnamese people would never forget the wholeheartedly support and assistance that the Hungarian Government and people have provided for their struggle for independence in the past as well as the current development.
After the war, Hungary continued to help Viet Nam recover and develop its economy through cooperative programs in the fields of agriculture, health, vocational training and many other fields.
Over the past two decades, the Association has made practical and effective contributions to people-to-people diplomacy and cooperation between the two countries, and between the city and Hungarian localities, particularly the Hungarian capital Budapest, he said. The Association has played an important role in humanitarian activities.
Hungarian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City Balogdi Tibor said that Hungary has organized many activities to promote economic development and cultural exchange between the two countries which will be maintained and developed in the future.
